(TITC) - On 21st August 2024, Vietnam Television in collaboration with Hai Phong City People's Committee, Hai Phong Department of Culture - Sports, Loc Phat Vietnam Bank (LPBank), and Thanh An Media Joint Stock Company held a press conference for VTV LPBank International Marathon - Fantastic Cat Ba Sunset 2024.

The VTV LPBank International Marathon - Fantastic Cat Ba Sunset 2024 will take place in Cat Ba Archipelago and be broadcast live on VTV2 from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on 19th October. This is a large-scale sporting event, promising to attract thousands of professional and amateur athletes from all over the world to participate.
With beautiful coastal routes, romantic sunsets and a vibrant atmosphere, the race will give athletes an unforgettable experience. The Organising Board hopes that this will be an opportunity for the runners community to show their spirit of protecting the value of Cat Ba World Natural Heritage recognized by UNESCO. Each runner will be an ambassador, promoting the image of Cat Ba to domestic and international friends.
Through the event, Vietnam Television and the Organising Board also hope to build a series of large-scale, prestigious and quality annual running competitions for the community of people who are passionate and love running in Vietnam. Thereby, promote tourism, culture and boost the economy of the host locality in particular and Vietnam in general.
The VTV LPBank International Marathon has running distances of 5km, 10km and 21km, giving participants the opportunity to explore the wild beauty and enjoy the sunset on the island as per the theme “Fantastic Cat Ba Sunset 2024”.
At the event, athletes will be immersed in the world of music and colourful festivals with music and colour stations arranged along the running route; explosive music stages and exciting beer festivals at the finish line.
At the 45th session of the World Heritage Committee on September 16, 2023 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, The United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) announced the new inscription of Ha Long Bay - Cat Ba Archipelago to the list of World Natural Heritage. Cat Ba Archipelago in the northern port city of Hai Phong is the largest limestone archipelago of the country. It includes over 360 islands, including Cat Ba Island to the south of Ha Long Bay.
