Provincial People’s Committee directs the Department of Tourism to coordinate with Vietjet Aviation Joint Stock Company (Vietjet Air), Phu Bai International Airport and relevant units to organise the Welcoming Ceremony for the first international flight operated by Vietjet Air to Terminal T2 - Phu Bai International Airport.

The first international flight to Terminal T2 - Phu Bai International Airport connecting Kunming City (Yunnan Province, China) with Thua Thien Hue Province carrying 230 passengers, landed at 3:20 am on 2nd July 2023, be greeted with a water cannon ritual, performance of dragon and lion dance,...

After complete immigration procedures, passengers and crew were welcomed and given flowers and souvenirs.

Passengers on the flight to Hue ancient capital city will experience local food, discover cultural values, natural landscapes, people and famous monuments and landmarks in Thua Thien Hue and the neighbouring provinces and cities of Quang Nam and Da Nang.

Thua Thien Hue Province offers preferential policies for travel agencies and tourists, such as 50% discount on tickets to Hue monuments, arrangement of Nha Nhac, Vietnamese Royal Court Music performances…

Since the operation of the first international flight to Phu Bai International Airport in 2012, Vietjet Air has contributed to bringing millions of domestic and international visitors to Thua Thien Hue and other localities on the "Central Heritage Road".

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Standing Vice Chairman of Thua Thien Hue Provincial People’s Committee, said, Thua Thien Hue Province is honoured to welcome the first international flight to Terminal T2. Thua Thien Hue will support and accompany Vietjet Air to operate additional international and domestic flights to the province and promote commercially, worthy of the potential and strength of Thua Thien Hue Province”.

Thua Thien Hue’s tourism industry has been implementing media and promoting image and tourism products of the local; advising on policies to create favourable conditions, mobilising local tourism businesses to have preferential price policies for airlines and tour operators to bring tourists to Thua Thien Hue; supporting to connect and promoting provincial tourism enterprises to develop new products, especially wellness tourism, MICE tourism, traditional craft village tourism and spiritual tourism to supplement for heritage tourism; at the same time build titles: "Hue - Festival City", "Hue - Ao Dai Capital", "Hue - Culinary Capital".

Thua Thien Hue has also implemented the project The Four Seasons Festival to attract domestic and international tourists throughout the year. This is a favourable condition and a good opportunity for increasing flights, operating new routes to and from Phu Bai International Airport, thereby contributing to promoting the image, affirming its position and promoting economic development of Thua Thien Hue Province.
