Vietnam and Egypt are both countries with a long history of cultural and historical traditions, stated MOCST’s Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong. Therefore, the potential for cooperation in the fields of culture, sports and tourism between Vietnam and Egypt is huge, especially in the field of culture and tourism.

In order for the bilateral cooperation to achieve better results in the coming time and to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries (1963-2023), MOCST’s Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong suggested the two countries should closely coordinate to organise events. MOCST will support Egypt to organise culture, sports and tourism events in Vietnam, especially activities to celebrate important milestones that the two countries are aiming for. At the same time, he hopes that Egypt will also promote cooperation in cultural and artistic activities, and soon bring the Vietnamese traditional art troupes to perform in Egypt.

Regarding the field of tourism, MOCST’s Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong said, Egypt can share its tourism development experience with Vietnam, as well as create favourable conditions for Vietnamese citizens to travel to the country of pharaohs.

Before the outbreak of Covid-19, Vietnam welcomed 4,088 Egyptian visitor arrivals. Egypt welcomed 1,460 Vietnamese visitor arrivals. In order to increase the number of visitors, tourism agencies of the two countries need to organise meetings and exchange information on tourism to promote two-way exchange of visitors.

Egyptian Ambassador to Vietnam Amal Abdel Kader Elmorsi Salama stated, Egypt always cherishes the traditional friendship and cooperation with Vietnam, especially in the fields of culture, sports and tourism. On the occasion of celebrating the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Egypt, Egypt will organise many cultural activities in Vietnam, in which it is expected that an art show will take place at the Hanoi Opera House, bringing an Egyptian group of artists to perform in Vietnam, organising an exhibition of paintings…

Egyptian Ambassador Amal Abdel Kader Elmorsi Salama affirmed that geographic distance is no longer an issue in developing cooperative relations between the two countries. She hopes that through the activities of culture, sports and tourism, the people of the two countries will have an opportunity to learn the history, country and people of each side. The Egyptian Ministry of Tourism is researching and proposing more ideas to connect the two countries' airlines, making it easier for people to travel and opening up more opportunities for cooperation in culture, sports and tourism.
