(TITC) - On 10th May 2023, in Phan Rang – Thap Cham City, Ninh Thuan Province, with the support of Tourism Information Technology Center - TITC (under Vietnam National Administration of Tourism - VNAT), Ninh Thuan Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism organised Training Workshop on using The Viet - Smart tourism card and implement the tourism digital platforms.

The Workshop was organised to guide, disseminate and use of The Viet - Smart tourism card, a product in the smart tourism ecosystem; Simultaneously, introducing, guiding essential national digital platforms that support tourism business and management, for those who are management agencies, tourist destinations, accommodation establishments, tourist service providers, travel agencies, tour guides.

Ms. Pham Thi Thanh Huong, Deputy Director of Ninh Thuan Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said, instructing units to use The Viet is one of the important content in this Workshop. This is a product in the programme "The Viet - one national card" hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The Viet - Smart Tourist Card is developed by using EMV chip technology, Triple DES encryption, multi-function integration in the fields of tourism, healthcare, banking, commerce, transportation, education... supporting users to proceed with one-touch payment, online payment, touchless - a popular trend recently.
The training course may give a hand to change perceptions, traditional ways of doing business, transforming the process of communicating with tourists and marketing tourism services, and at the same time opening up new and highly creative ways of providing tourism services and enhance the visitors’ experience in Ninh Thuan, Ms. Huong raised high hopes.

At the Workshop, attending delegates got The Viet for free and were guided to use and experience the card's features. Units and businesses are shared in detail on how to develop a Smart Tourist Card issuer, how to do business and manage tourism through the digital utility system of the Smart Tourist Card. At the same time, management agencies, travel businesses, accommodation, attractions, service facilities, guides... can experience the utility ecosystem of the National Tourism Application: the "Vietnam Travel" application and the "Vietnam Tourism Guides" application.

Digital transformation is an urgent requirement and an inevitable trend for the tourism industry. It is considered as a strategic breakthrough step in the context of the fourth industrial revolution and the Covid-19 pandemic, in order to catch up with the changing in customers’ behaviours in using assistive technology products in tourism activities.
Beside physical cards, smart tourist cards (with QR code) were integrated on the “Vietnam Travel” app. By installing the application, visitors will have an opportunity to use an ecosystem of technological gadgets including air ticket booking service, hotels reservations, electronic tickets purchases to attractions, online shopping, look up on tourist digital maps, search for businesses providing travel services, manage tours, feedback to authorities, update the latest news in the industry…
